Healthy Eating

To begin eating healthy foods and making improved choices we first have to understand what the term ‘healthy eating’ actually means.

In this context ‘healthy eating’ means foods that are essential in providing the sustenance, nutrients and minerals for life. In addition, it’s the food that provides us with the energy we need to thrive and gives us the mental capacity we need to be in control of our day to day actions.

How do we find these foods?

1)      Don’t look where the world tells us to!

2)      Change your mindset – think of food as a tool to nourish and bring good health!

Don’t look where they tell us to!

The health food isle is the most commonly abused isle in the supermarket by budding health enthusiasts.

If food is in the health food isle it must be good for us right? WRONG!!

You must remember that behind each item is a business trying to turn a profit. Do you think the shareholder is concerned with healthy choices over a profitable investment?

Don’t get me wrong, not everything this is bad, but far from everything is good.

Change your mindset!

If you begin to consider food as a tool designed to keep you healthy then it becomes a different picture.

Perhaps the thought of living a long healthy life free of medication and premature ageing sounds attractive to you?

It’s a silly question however it needs to be asked!

If this is your belief then approaching food as your ongoing health insurance is going to be easy.

-          Choose whole foods that you must cook (not reheat) prior to eating.

-          Shop primarily in the fresh fruit/vegetable markets and butcheries.

-          Choose the highest quality organic everything where possible.

-          If possible grow your own – fruit, veg, eggs, honey, beef etc

-          Avoid the toxins – alcohol, cigarettes, drugs, fast food, soft drink, sugar, preservatives artificial – colours/flavours/thickeners etc

-          Exercises restraint – choose to eat clean 90% of the time. Make the decision and stick with it.

-          Get advice from a professional in the field.

If you can exercise the above steps and develop your mindset, your health will improve quicker than you thought possible.
